About IDS GeoRadar

IDS GeoRadar provides products and solutions for geophysical, mining, civil engineering and security applications.

IDS Technology

Radar is well known for its ability to detect aircraft, ships, vehicles, birds, rain-storms and other above-ground objects. It relies for its operation on the transmission of electro-magnetic energy, usually in the form of a pulse, and the detection of the small amount of energy that is reflected from the target. The round-trip transit time of the pulse and its reflection provide range information on the target.

The application of radar in the detection of buried objects is quite old; there are details of such work dating back to 1910, with the first pulsed experiments reported in 1926 when the depths of rock strata were determined by time-of-flight methods. Equipment implementing this method are called Ground Penetrating Radars (GPRs).

IDS GeoRadar has long been a major player in research into GPR. This pushes dates back to 1991, when, following a request of Telecom Italia, the Italian telecommunications organization,  to improve the mapping of subsoil utilities,  IDS developed the first multi-frequency, multi-channel array systems which enables the construction of detailed 3D images of large underground areas, dramatically improving utilities detection. Building on this success IDS GeoRadar has become, today, one of the largest global provider of GPR products; during these 30 years of operation IDS GeoRadar developed a set of systems suitable for a wide spectrum of applications, spanning from subsoil deep objects detection to utilities mapping, road and railway assessments, structure investigations etc..

IDS GeoRadar is also continuously committed to investigate alternative radar technologies with the aim to introduce in the market breakthrough products. In 2007 we launched the IBIS product, the first commercial ground based interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar. The interferometric radar products provide a unique solution to the problem of monitoring submillimeter movements in ground or structures, allowing remote, long range, continuous real-time measurement of large areas. Since 2007 IBIS have been successfully adopted for slope stability monitoring of natural landslide and open pit mine operations. IBIS family product is also effectively used for civil structure vibration and deformation analysis. In particular IDS GeoRadar is specialized in advanced technologies for short range radar, including pulse, SFCW, FMCW technologies in the RF, MW and MMW, ultra-wide band technologies, advanced antenna arrays, real-time signal and image processing, target recognition etc.

C-thrue

See thru concrete structures and reveal true data that lead to optimal decision-making

C-thrue is an all-in-one Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for accurate scanning and real time analysis of concrete structures. Construction and service companies as well as civil and structural engineers can now improve the way they locate rebars, voids, post-tension cables, cavities, conduits, and any other objects buried in the structure before cutting or drilling into the concrete.

C-thrue is an easy-to-use and robust solution to see through concrete structures and reveal true data that lead to optimal decision-making. The solution is suited for all construction sites and operations including building renovation, overpasses, monuments, bridges and tunnels surveys, as well as for detailed analysis of the original engineering project and comparison with the as-built structure.

Features and Benefits:

  • Clearer and faster surveys
Detection of both first and second levels of rebars thanks to the system’s double polarisation.

  • Safe drill in the surveyed structure
Rebar/void automatic insight capabilities that improve safety before cutting or drilling into the concrete.

  • Fully-visible, multi-touch display
Data displayed on the screen are never obscured by the handle or the user’s hand.

  • Simplified data interpretation
Optimal decision-making supported by visualisation of acquired data in 3D models.

  • Increased data accuracy
Eliminate manual, error-prone paper grids with an automatic positioning and navigation system.

  • Advanced data visualisation
Augmented reality for 3D data visualisation and sharing across operators – in real time or intervals after acquisition.

  • Automated data acquisition and analysis
Automatic detection of the first layer of rebars and result exportation.

  • Flexible solution
Compact and transportable system for any user operations and construction sites.
